GRAND SEIKO HAS A habit of quietly nudging conversations in progressive watchmaking. Earlier this year, the Japanese watchmaking house premiered the Spring Drive U.F.A., a hybrid electronic-mechanical engine that is the most precise movement of its kind to date.

Now, a mere couple of months on, comes a timely update: the SLGB005 model. Limited to 1,300 pieces, the new iteration comes in a 37mm case and bracelet crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, an alloy with superior resistance to corrosion compared to other high-grade steels.

Known to reflect light with a brighter hue than standard stainless steel, the material is brought to life by Grand Seiko’s artisans, polished with Zaratsu finishing to produce distortion-free mirror planes offset by brushed textures.
