THE UNTOLD STORIES BEHIND INFOAGE'S 20 MINI MUSEUMS

- STEVE SEARS

HISTORY IN THE CURRENT

INFOAGE ANNUAL HOLIDAY MODEL TRAIN SHOW

PERHAPS TOM SEDERGRAN, AN INFORMATION AGE (INFOAGE) SCIENCE & HISTORY MUSEUMS TRUSTEE, SAID IT BEST.

“Everything has a story,” he said of the location at 2021 Marconi Road in Wall Township. “Even a personal story, like the wedding dress made out of a parachute. The granddaughter was here three months ago to check up on it, and apparently, there's also a christening dress that was made from the parachute. So, there is more to the story — the family is still involved.”

A drive down Marconi Road just east of the Shark River yields what appears to be history perhaps forgotten. Eyes can be deceiving, and books can’t be judged by their covers. Behind Cold War fencing and nestled (but very active) within the aged buildings of Historic Camp Evans is the InfoAge Science & History Museums. Incorporated in 1999 and with its first exhibit unveiled in 2005, InfoAge is one large museum complex comprised of 20 (soon to be 22) mini museums and exhibits in 16 historic buildings. There are currently 150 volunteers who create and maintain the displays.

ONE OF OUR CLAIMS IS THAT WE ARE NOT THE SAME AS MOST MUSEUMS. WE ENCOURAGE THE KIDS TO TOUCH AND FEEL AND EXPERIENCE WHAT IS GOING ON. - Steven Lang, a trustee

Picture taking is always encouraged, as is interaction with the wonder among you.
