In a milestone for interventional cardiology in Goa and the wider Konkan region, Manipal Hospital Goa has successfully performed the region's first ROTA-PRO angioplasty on an 84-year-old patient with multiple comorbidities.

The breakthrough procedure marks a new era in advanced heart care for patients previously deemed inoperable.
A High-Risk Challenge
The patient, already suffering from chronic kidney disease and ischaemic cardiomyopathy, was diagnosed with a 90-95% blockage in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery - one of the most critical blood vessels of the heart. Severe calcification made conventional angioplasty impossible, while open-heart surgery posed life-threatening risks.
