A SURE sign of winter in our household are evenings in front of the television.

Not that we all live under one roof any more, but there are times when we happen to be together and the catch-up button is pressed to find one of our favourite shows—invariably, at this time of year, it is MasterChef: The Professionals. I should say this wouldn’t be the boys’ first choice, but, happily, they tend not to get much of a look-in with the remote control when us girls are around.
Part of the fun of MasterChef: The Professionals, quite aside from the brutality of the skills test, is the debate the programme engenders.
