THE REMADE MAN
Issue 221 (January 2026)
|August Man SG
From prodigy to truth-teller, Greyson Chance talks about reinvention, isolation, and the storytelling fire shaping his boldest artistic chapter yet.
REBIRTH DOESN'T KEEP a schedule.
Even rupture—the all-consuming erasure of what was, merciless in its suddenness and obliterative in its reach, to set the ground right for the next iteration—refuses the logic of planning or clocks. Yet, greeting the world as he does now, in his current and most painfully hard-won, and therefore most honest, artistic incarnation, Greyson Chance stands as stirring proof that the heat of a trial by fire can define your existence and nourish the spirit.
The Texas-born singer-songwriter has always been a study in transformation. The world first met him as a child prodigy going viral for his piano-led rendition of Lady Gaga's ‘Paparazzi’. He was a phenomenon folded instantly into the machinery of fame. But the story that followed—the shedding of myth, the bruising industry education, the rebuilding from nothing—is where the real artist began. Today, in his late 20s, Chance stands as something rarer: a fully realised storyteller.
He writes in cycles, evolves in chapters, and mythologises in real time. And though the world might still remember the boyhood flashpoint, Chance remembers only the work and the albums that held his life when nothing else did.
What emerges now is a voice sharper, wiser, and defiantly vulnerable. An artisan in search of truth, not flash. A creator unafraid to name the cost of making art that feels like bloodletting. His new era carries the marks of every version he's been, and every version he's had to let die.
