Take advantage of unused super cap amounts

The rate of superannuation guarantee (SG) - the amount of super that your employer is obliged by law to pay on your behalf - is going up to 12% (from 11.5%) on July 1, 2025.

This is the final step in a series of annual increments that has seen the rate of SG progressively increase from 9.5%, by a series of annual increments going back to 2021.

It means that your retirement savings have increased - indeed, analysis shows that each increment has led to an increase of about $19,000 in the size of the retirement nest egg available to a 'typical' 30-year-old Australian.
