Let old-fashioned concertina folds inspire your Christmas table creativity and let your imagination take flight

PASSION FOR PAPER

SET THE SCENE

We used white as the primary colour for our Christmas table and brought in touches of gold here and there to introduce a modern, festive feeling. Paper with concertina folds serves as our tablecloth and we repeated the folds in the rest of our decorations to ensure a pretty, cohesive picture. Set the table with your best glasses and china, then round the scene off with soft candlelight.

imageMILK-CARTON LANTERNS

You will need

• Empty milk cartons in different sizes

• White spray paint

• Window template, page 100

• Masking tape

• Craft knife and cutting mat

• Metal ruler

• Battery-powered tealight candles

1 Rinse out the milk cartons and leave them to dry.

2 Spray paint the dry cartons white. Spray on two or three coats so that the colour is properly solid. Spray lightly to avoid visible drips or streaks from excess paint, then allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next one.

3 Copy the window design from page 100 in the desired size and cut it out.

4 Stick the window design lightly onto the spray-painted carton with masking tape and use the craft knife and metal ruler to cut the windows in the box.

5 Cut away the base of the carton with the craft knife.

6 Place the milk-carton lantern over a tealight for a lovely, soft glow.
