For tastemaker Carlos Mota, life isn't just about doing what you love - but doing it with a sense of celebration

Carlos Mota is on a creative expedition. As soon as we begin chatting, the Venezuelan design consultant shares his multifaceted interests, a harmonious Venn diagram of various design-related domains. “I do tabletops for Casa Mota, flowers, books, private parties, wedding parties and homes - everything related to design,” he cheerfully sums up. “From an early age, I knew I loved beautiful things.”

This is partly due to Carlos’s influences at home. “I grew up in quite a middle-class family but we lived very well. My mother had an artistic side — she painted and did ceramics, and my father was a journalist. I guess they both have a creative spirit. As for me, I was always interested in nature, flowers, furniture… in moving things around in my bedroom and making sure it looked pretty.”
