Transforming chaos into tranquility, Baldiwala Edge has crafted a luxurious Mumbai abode with minimalist elegance and thoughtful touches

After a long day, a young health coach and her businessman husband longed for a luxurious yet warm retreat from the bustling city. In the heart of Mumbai's chaos, Ali Baldiwala of Baldiwala Edge transformed their 2,500 sq ft apartment into an oasis of tranquility. "I designed the couple's bedroom and bathroom 10 years ago when they were newly married. A decade later, as their family expanded they approached me to design a bigger flat. Both husband and wife have a very humble and grounded approach and are very easy-going and simple; exemplary of quiet luxury," says Ali, whose design echoes this grounded humility and eye for understated luxe through this home.

The foyer welcomes with minimalist elegance, its serene tones instantly calming. A pyrite table against textured white walls sets the tone, while a dynamic partition in the living room, sculpted with HDMR sheets, adds a fluid touch. Quartzite shelving brings stillness amid the flowing waves, while the decor accessories embrace the philosophy of wabi-sabi. The dining room serves as a point of pause next to it, getting the family together for each meal. Contrasting the living room's fluid dynamics, the dining space serves as an anchor to the home's vibrancy. Centered by a bespoke Dalmata dining table with burnt ashwood legs, the space invites flowing conversations and connections while being seated on plush Poltrona Frau leather swivel chairs.
