With quiet clarity and a considered approach to craft and context, Case Design's architecture is a lesson in empathy and lasting design
-

When Samuel Barclay first arrived in India in 2003 as an exchange student, he didn't expect to stay. But something about the place held him. "There was this layered richness to how spaces were used and shared," he says. "It felt alive in a way I hadn't experienced before." That encounter would lay the foundation for Case Design, the Mumbai-based practice he later co-founded with his partner, Erica Barclay, in 2013. Today, the studio is known for its calm, responsive architecture — buildings and interiors that are unhurried, crafted, and deeply rooted in their setting. "We're not trying to impose a signature," says Erica. “It's more about reading what's already there and designing with a light but deliberate hand.”
