Rooted in Tradition

This beautiful, traditional Daniel George kitchen is a showpiece, one that illustrates just how well modern tech can marry with classic design.
-
When Ronald McCulloch of Daniel George Kitchens first met the homeowners, they hadn't set out to embark on a full kitchen renovation. ‘They popped into our showroom on a whim,’ says Ronald, ‘but they fell in love with our Lincoln display. ‘That moment changed everything.’ What began as casual curiosity soon became a deeply personal project rooted in transforming a tired 30-year-old kitchen into a warm, spacious and luxurious hub for daily life.
‘The couple had recently extended their home, introducing a striking arched window and perched roof to flood the space with light. That natural light quickly became central to the new kitchen’s design. ‘This wasn’t just about upgrading appliances or cabinetry, it was about enhancing how they live,’ Ronald explains. ‘Comfort and function mattered just as much as aesthetics.’
‘The couple wanted a kitchen that felt expansive, elegant, and personal. ‘We were delighted to be asked to design not only the kitchen but also a bespoke media wall and a compact utility room,’ Ronald adds.
One of the most transformative changes came in the kitchen’s layout. ‘Although the home had seen structural work in the past, the kitchen layout had remained untouched. It no longer worked for their lifestyle or for the new flow of light.’ Appliances and key working zones were repositioned to maximise the benefit of the arched window. ‘By opening the space and improving sightlines, we allowed the light to bring warmth and depth to every material.’
