Divide spaces in your home without affecting light levels using these clever glazing ideas
-
The conventional way of dividing up spaces within the home is to incorporate walls and doors, but the use of glass is an increasingly popular way to create a more open feel and improve the flow of light. Advances in glazing frames and architectural design have led to glass being used in a variety of new and innovative ways. While internal glazing can serve as a way to enhance already spacious homes, it really comes into its own in small or awkward areas, providing much-needed light and creating the impression of space.
There are many ways glazing can be used to improve interior spaces - all of which create their own unique effect:
Glazed doors are one of the most effective ways to connect rooms and maximise light from outer to inner spaces.
Internal windows allow light to flow between rooms - this is particularly valuable in darker areas of the home.
Glass balustrades on staircases create a modern look as well as aiding the flow of light between upstairs and downstairs.
Glazed atriums are an effective way to introduce natural light that can radiate outwards from the centre of a house.
Glass floors allow light to pass between two levels of a building and require toughened and anti-slip glass.
