Brush with NATURE
July 2025
|Australian House & Garden Magazine
Indoors and outdoors are in perfect harmony in this light and airy home in Melbourne's southeast.
The Glasshouse - that's the name owners Ryan and Chloe lovingly gave their light-soaked home on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. And it's easy to see why - indoors and outdoors flow seamlessly into one in these laid-back spaces created by interior designer Kate Walker of KWD&Co. It's a calming confluence of light and air, lush greenery and welcoming wafts of Palm Springs modernism.
When they bought the property in 2020, it was squandered by a clinker-brick bungalow with scant regard for the charmed location. “There was something special about the elevation, the mature trees and quiet energy,” says Ryan.
“But the existing house was dated and felt disconnected from the landscape. We could see ourselves building a home that felt grounded, calming and timeless.”
The couple discovered Kate’s work through social media and industry connections. “She has a depth and confidence in everything she does. It isn’t just about making a space look good, it is about how it feels,” says Chloe. “Her work has that boutique, high-end feel, but it never feels overdone or too try-hard.”هذه القصة من طبعة July 2025 من Australian House & Garden Magazine.
