Seiko proposes four limited edition watches to commemorate the 145th anniversary of the founding of the company
When you see the line “marking 145 years,” you may initially be confused, given that not long ago there were watches and events celebrating the 100th anniversary.
These are, in fact, two different milestones. The centenary celebrated in 2024 marked 100 years since the name Seiko was first used on watch dials. However, the company that eventually became Seiko as we know it today has an earlier origin, dating back to 1881, which means it reaches its 145th anniversary this year. See the other section of this story for more on the history, if you are not all caught up yet.
To mark the occasion, Seiko has begun the year in grand fashion with the launch of four limited edition models based on the King Seiko, Prospex, Presage and Astron designs. Each features gold-toned details on various elements, symbolising Seiko’s commitment to bringing joy and beauty into people's lives. Certain models also feature dial patterns inspired by the engraved decoration found on the pocket watches of Kintaro Hattori, the company’s founder. The first of these is the King Seiko KS1969, reference SJE121, limited to 800 pieces. It features a gradient dial that transitions from dark grey to black, contrasted by gold-coloured hour markers and hands. The 39.4mm stainless steel watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 6L35, offering a power reserve of 45 hours. The second model is the Prospex Speedtimer Mechanical Chronograph, reference SRQ059, limited to 700 pieces. This one has a white dial and is driven by the self-winding Calibre 8R48, also with a 45-hour power reserve, within a 42mm stainless steel case.

LOUIS VUITTON ESCALE RÉPÉTITION MINUTES

CHANEL MONSIEUR SUPERLEGGERA BLEU EDITION
Part of the family of watches made of Chanel's recently developed black-blue matt ceramic, which took five years of development and was unveiled at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025, the 42mm Monsieur Superleggera Bleu Edition took design cues from motor sports, especially race-car speedometers, for the arrangement of its complications on the enigmatic black guillochÈ dial: a generous jumping-hour indication at 6 o'clock, retrograde minutes tracked on a 240-degree circular scale at the top, and a small seconds subcounter in between.

VAN CLEEF & ARPELS MIDNIGHT HEURE D'ICI & HEURE D'AILLEURS
Among the maison's Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026 highlights, the 38mm rosegold watch with a deceptively prosaic name meaning 'time here and time elsewhere' references its 2014 predecessor with the same set of complications - dual time zones with double jumping hours and a retrogrademinutes mechanism and the same dial layout: the baseline hour in the upper window, and the second time zone's hour in the lower window.
