A private island in Italy sounds like the perfect setting for a beachy frolic in clothes that flare rather than fit. But the best experiences in fashion are often formed through the unexpected, and Nicolas Ghesquière delivered. The scenic Isola Bella on Italy’s Lake Maggiore, which mirrors the beauty of Lake Como but lacks the attached glamour and Roman Holiday (1953) factor, was the location for Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2024 show that took on an enchantingly folkloric turn.
Historically, Ghesquière’s penchant for leaning towards scifi has clearly been seen across collections and seasons, whether you look at his spring/summer 2018 offering or the much more recent resort 2022 display.
