MR BIGSTUFF NEW THURSDAY, 9PM & 9.30PM, SKY MAX & SKY SHOWCASE COMEDY (BOX SET, SKY BOX SETS/NOW)
There is a buzz of excitement in the air when TV Times catches up with actors Danny Dyer and Ryan Sampson. Not only is their Sky epic Mr Bigstuff-a whirlwind of capers, chaos and carpet sales - returning for a much-anticipated second series this week, but the show also earnt ex-EastEnders star Danny the Best Male Performance in a Comedy trophy at this year's BAFTA TV Awards.
Taking us back to suburban Essex, the new sixpart run picks up the action a fortnight after alphamale anarchistic Lee Campbell (Danny) and his meek brother, carpet salesman Glen (Ryan), made the shock discovery that their dad isn't actually dead - and the siblings are handling the news very differently. Here, Ryan, 39, who created and writes the series, and Danny, 47, share their secrets of sitcom success and raising the stakes with 'wild' stunts and flying food...
Firstly, congratulations on your first-ever BAFTA win, Danny. How are you feeling about your triumph?
DANNY Thank you so much. I never thought I'd get one; it’s lovely. It’s always nice to be acknowledged, but in the grand scheme of things, what is it? It’s a little, shiny bit of metal, really. When I won the award, I dedicated it to Ryan because he gave me this gift [Ryan wrote the part of Lee with Danny in mind after working together in 2013 on ITV2’s Ancient Rome sitcom Plebs]. He knows where I can shine.
RYAN On the night of the BAFTAS, I thought I was going to be dead cool if he won. But when it actually happened, I just blubbed my eyes out on live TV. I looked ridiculous, sniffling away. I was so proud of him. No one deserves it more than Danny. He’s a phenomenal actor, but he’s also an icon.هذه القصة من طبعة July 19, 2025 من TV Times.
