It’s been three years since we last saw Alex Ridley (Adrian Dunbar), the former detective who lost his wife and daughter in an arson attack meant for him. And although he’s trying to move on through his work as a police consultant, the grief remains ever-present – as we see when the crime drama returns for a new four-part run.

This week, a young informant provides Alex with intel following a raid on a jewellery store owned by Harry Bentham (Holby City star John Michie). But the case takes a turn when a key witness is murdered, and Alex and his former protégée DI Carol Farman (Bronagh Waugh) must track down the criminal gang responsible.
