Neil had haemophilia, a condition where the blood doesn't clot properly, and he was among a group of children with haemophilia invited to attend the Lord Mayor Treloar College in Hampshire.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the school offered haemophiliac pupils a new 'miracle cure' called Factor VIII, with NHS treatment on site and the chance to live a normal childhood.
