A Mother's Day Surprise

Rohan always looked forward to Mother's Day with great excitement.

Every year, he made a beautiful greeting card for his mother and prepared some yummy dishes. His efforts always made his mother smile, and she accepted his gifts with love. This year too, Rohan had planned a surprise for her.

But one morning, just as he woke up, his parents shared some disappointing news. “We need to go to another city for three days. We have some important work there,” his mother said gently.

“Mummy, how will I stay without you on Mother’s Day?” he sobbed.

His mother lovingly ruffled his hair.

“Oh, Rohan! It’s an important task, but you won't be alone. We'll leave you at Tina’s house. You'll have lots of fun there!” she said with a smile.

Rohan should have been happy. Tina was his best friend, and her house was near a big park where something fun was always happening. But he didn’t feel excited. He just wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day with his Mummy.

The next day, his mother packed his little suitcase, and Rohan quietly tucked the card he had made into it. He was clearly sad.

“Don’t cry, beta! When I return, I’ll make you fresh carrot pudding,” his mother promised, hugging him tightly. Rohan hugged her back, not wanting to let go. When they arrived at Tina’s house, Tina’s mother, Yamini aunty, hugged Rohan warmly.

“Oh wow, my sweet boy Rohan is here!” she said cheerfully. But Rohan was still sad and teary-eyed.
