As he blew out the candles on his 50th birthday cake on May 2, you'd be forgiven for thinking that David Beckham wouldn't have much to wish for. For the former footballer, a doting family, a net worth in the hundreds of millions and a bevy of A-list pals to celebrate with would indicate a perfectly content life. But insiders have revealed that David's milestone celebrations have been tinged with sadness, with his eldest son Brooklyn absent from all events during the month-long festivities.

“It’s a terribly sad situation and it has been going on for a long time,” an old friend of the couple told Mail Online of the family feud. “They adore Brooklyn, their children are everything to them, but Brooklyn isn’t talking to them, he isn’t talking to the family and David and Victoria are heartbroken.”

The festivities had kicked off last month in Miami, with a birthday bash attended by the likes of Lionel Messi and Cindy Crawford, before heading back across the pond for more celebrations closer to home.

A big family party at the Beckham’s Cotswold estate on April 30 was followed with an intimate trip to France for the birthday boy, wife Victoria and their children Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20 - plus partners Kim Turnbull, 24, and Jackie Apostel, 29 - and Harper, 13 on May 2.
