These famous eco-warriors are on the front lines when it comes to saving Mother Earth
JASON MOMOA
The Aquaman star has been an environmentalist all of his life. “Growing up in Hawaii, we are taught to respect our world, not pollute and help clean up,” Momoa, 43, tells Us. Last June, he was named the Advocate for Life Below Water for UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme). “We fight to pass international restrictions on overfishing and polluting to protect our oceans,” explains the actor, who recommends that people replace plastic water bottles with aluminum options. “It’s an easy step towards a better world.”
JANE FONDA
Putting her money where her mouth is! The legendary actress was arrested four times in 2019 after launching weekly rallies in Washington, D.C., to bring attention to the climate crisis. “We need to focus on changing policy and politicians,” declared Fonda, 85. “We need large numbers of people working together for solutions that work.”
LUPITA NYONG’O
Nyong’o has long been fighting the good fight for wildlife conservation: She became the WildAid Global Elephant Ambassador in 2015, and four years later, the Oscar winner, 40, was honored as WildAid’s Wildlife Champion. Noted the actress: “It’s unthinkable that we could let [elephants] become extinct just to trade their ivory.”
