The stars of new thriller The Stranger in My Home (Grey’s Anatomy, too!) talk about family ties, their teen-drama past and their rom-com future
SOPHIA BUSH HER BEST ROLES One Tree Hill (2003-12), John Tucker Must Die (2006), The Hitcher (2007), Good Sam (2022) DID YOU KNOW...
Sophia Bush and Chris Carmack have a lot in common. They both skyrocketed to success in early 2000s teen dramas and, in 2024, became costars on ABC's long-running Grey's Anatomy. Now they're pivoting to the psychological thriller The Stranger in My Home (on digital now).
“You look like Superman!” Bush, 42, is still in disbelief over seeing her old pal Carmack, 44, stray from good guy roles to portray a grieving father who discovers his teenage daughter was switched at birth. Bush is just as removed from her typical “badass” characters as Ali, a mother who will do anything to protect her child. “It was nice for me to not have to be a hero in the most obvious sense of the word,” she tells Carmack in Us Weekly’s latest In Conversation. Here's more.
The switched-atbirth daughters of Carmack and Bush's characters learn the truth at age 15.CC I'll begin! Sophia, people are fascinated by stories of being swapped at birth. Why do you think that is?
SB What strikes me is [it] sounds like an old wives’ tale or an urban legend. We found out about the times this has happened before there were supposedly failsafe measures instituted in hospitals. It made me think about putting myself in that position. What a juicy thing to do as an actor.
