So far in the new season of When Calls the Heart, a forest fire consumed Goldie National Park just before its grand opening (was arson involved?), and the residents of nearby Benson Hills lost everything, forcing their evacuation to Hope Valley. But amid the sorrow, there are two constants in this fresh-aired frontier town: the warm embrace of community and the love between schoolteacher Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) and Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry).

"Nathan and Elizabeth take steps forward," Krakow tells Us of the beloved drama's 13th round (Sundays, 8 p.m., Hallmark Channel; next day Hallmark+).
