Motherhood came “naturally” to Bethenny Frankel despite her own complicated childhood. “We can say I’m breaking the chain and it’s because of the [upbringing] I had, but I don’t ask for advice on parenting,” Frankel, who stars as a frantic mom in the new Lifetime movie Danger in the Dorm, tells Us. “I had my daughter [Bryn, 14], clicked in, connected and felt like I knew where I was supposed to be. I’m confident and secure in it the way that I am in business.” Here, Frankel, 53, dishes on life with her teen.

Q: How would you describe your relationship with Bryn?

She lives for me, but she also lives for her friends and her social life. We spend a lot of time together: We [go on] amazing trips, go to great dinners and get dressed cute. It’s good because when she’s with her friends, then I get [me] time. It’s a nice balance.
