THE June 25 episode of Duchess Sarah Ferguson’s podcast Tea Talks With the Duchess and Sarah was a surprisingly serious one. “Tomorrow I’m going in for a mastectomy,” Fergie told cohost Sarah Thomson, after revealing she hadn’t been sure whether she was going to discuss her recent breast cancer diagnosis on the air. “It’s very important that I speak about it,” the royal ultimately decided. “I am telling people out there because I want every single person who is listening to this podcast to go get checked.”

The same day, a spokesperson for Fergie confirmed the 63-year-old had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer after a routine mammogram and had undergone a successful surgery at King Edward VII’s Hospital in London.
