AFTER winning her Golden Globe on Jan. 5, Demi Moore hit the dance floor with a group of friends at a celebratory afterparty, tossing her famously glossy locks. When she shared a clip of the revelry on social media two days later, the 62-year-old made a winking reference to the character that had earned her the win, a fading celeb desperate to regain her relevance in the body-horror flick The Substance. She captioned the video, “Elisabeth Sparkle if she respected the balance.”

It was an apt role for the actress’ comeback. Before the script crossed her desk, Demi admitted in her much-lauded Golden Globes acceptance speech, she believed her career was over. “I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it,” she told the crowd at the Beverly Hilton hotel, revealing her pain at being dismissed as a “popcorn actress.” This honor was a validation. “This is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor,” she said. “I’m just so humbled and grateful.”
