BU researchers have developed a new algorithm that's inspired by how the brain interprets speech that could help hearing aids tune out interference and isolate the speaker from the crowd. In tests, researchers found it improved word recognition accuracy by 40 percentage points compared to the algorithms in current hearing aids.
