Mamie Gummer reflects on sibling dynamics, motherhood and her famous legacy

Mamie Gummer isn't trying to be her mother. “Who can compare?” the eldest daughter of Meryl Streep asks us rhetorically. “I wouldn’t have the audacity to even try to attempt such a thing!”

Instead, the 41-year-old mom of two – she shares son Peter, 6, and daughter Mary, 3, with ex-husband Mehar Sethi, 43 has carved out a career that is unequivocally her own. From the intricate legal dance of The Good Wife's Nancy Crozier to the haunting depths explored as Lucy Purcell in True Detective, Mamie knows how to deliver a memor- able performance. Now, she enters the mysterious, drama-filled world of the Sinclair family in the TV series We Were Liars, based on the young-adult book by E. Lockhart.

Here, Mamie opens up to Hello! Canada about her new project (filmed in Nova Scotia), the family keepsake she wears every day and her summer plans with the kids.
