The Royal Family say an emotional goodbye to the much-loved Duchess of Kent

It was the most solemn of farewells to a beloved member of the Royal Family as the King and the Prince and Princess of Wales joined the Duke of Kent, his children and his grandchildren for the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who passed away peacefully at the age of 92.

Amid the grandeur of Westminster Cathedral, bathed in afternoon sunshine, around 400 guests gathered to pay their respects at a requiem mass presided over by Cardinal Vincent Nichols.

Married to Katharine for 64 years, the duke, 89, was supported by his daughter, Lady Helen Taylor, followed by her husband, Timothy, and their children, Columbus, Cassius, Eloise and Estella.
