Frightening fake doctors epidemic plagues nation

QUACK doctors are maiming and even killing unsuspecting patients across the United States, a new GLOBE exposé reveals.

The Federation of State Medical Boards, which represents the state agencies responsible for licensing physicians, estimated that as far back as 1986, as many as 28,000 of these dangerous frauds are operating in the U.S. at any given time.

And while the organization no longer tracks the number of fake MDs, more recent figures suggest the problem has only grown. A 2022 study found there are 65,000 foreign-trained doctors who are practicing in the U.S. despite not being licensed.

Often the charlatans look like legit physicians. Take the case of “Doctor” Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, 37, who advertised himself as a real doc, offering an array of cosmetic procedures, including $450 “Botox parties,” on social media.
