SNL'S LAST GASP!

TV’S iconic skit comedy show Saturday Night Live returns for its 51st season this October, but many are wondering if this is the last gasp after half a century of anchoring late-night Saturdays for NBC.

Just last year during the show’s 50th anniversary, talk was that it was running out of steam and might be legendary boss Lorne Michaels’ last season.

But asked when he’s stepping down, the 80-year-old producer recently said: “I don’t really have an answer; I just know ... as long as I can keep doing it, I’ll keep doing it.”

Michael Che, who cohosts the long-running news skit Weekend Update, noted Michaels “IS” SNL, saying: “The show is in his image.”
