Al-led SOC infrastructure shifts from data to outcomes
April 2026
|Voice and Data
As Al reshapes SOC systems, organisations must measure what matters, aligning data, analytics, and workflows to deliver outcome-driven decisions at scale.
Security Operations Centres (SOCs) have long been measured by activity—alerts processed, incidents closed, and data ingested. These metrics once reflected effectiveness in environments where visibility was limited, and response speed was the primary concern. That model is now under strain.
Across modern enterprises, the scale and architecture of security operations have shifted. Telemetry now flows continuously from cloud platforms, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications, identity systems, and endpoints, creating a highly distributed data environment.
At the same time, adversaries are operating across these layers, exploiting gaps between tools and systems.
This shift is not merely operational. It reflects a deeper redesign of the underlying security infrastructure— from data ingestion pipelines and analytics platforms to artificial intelligence (Al) compute layers and decision systems. Traditional architectures, built around volume-driven data processing, are struggling to keep pace with this complexity.
In parallel, expectations from leadership have evolved. Boards are no longer satisfied with activity metrics. They want to understand whether security investments are reducing risk, improving resilience, and delivering measurable outcomes.
This raises a more fundamental question: what does effective SOC performance look like in an Al-driven infrastructure environment?
LIMITS OF LEGACY SECURITY INFRASTRUCTURE
Many SOCs today are operating at full capacity, yet still struggling to demonstrate a clear impact. Analysts spend significant time triaging alerts, assembling fragmented context, and preparing investigations before meaningful response actions can begin. The work is constant, but much of it is repetitive and operationally heavy.
