Launched in 2018, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana aimed to provide health coverage to targeted benefi ciaries from the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011, based on deprivation and occupational criteria.
On October 29, 2024, the scheme was extended to all resident senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their economic status. Before the extension, the scheme covered over 12 crore families. With the recent expansion, it would now include an additional 4.5 crore families and 6 crore senior citizens, according to a recent press release issued by Press Information Bureau.
As of November 11, there were 30,733 hospitals empanelled under the scheme, including 17,084 government hospitals and 13,649 private hospitals.

1 Visit the official website of the National Health Authority. Log in using your mobile number, OTP, and Captcha code
2 Click on the 'for a senior aged 70 and above, click here to enrol' option on the same page
3 Enter your Aadhaar number and Captcha code, and click 'search'
