Founded in 2004, Glottis, a homegrown freight forwarding company, offers borderless freight solution and manages customs and delivery to ensure safe delivery of shipments. The company, which recently got listed on the exchanges, focuses on speed, trust, and service to support global trade. In an interview, Ramkumar Senthilvel, Promoter & Managing Director, Glottis, shared his vision about strengthening operational efficiency through backward integration.

TURNING CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES

With over 21 years of experience and eight branches across India, Glottis has steadily grown its operations. As of March 2025, we handled approximately 1.12 lakh TEUs annually, generating a revenue of Rs 941 crore.

The logistics industry has traditionally been family-driven and run in a conventional way, but that's now changing rapidly. The sector is evolving, and we are witnessing a lot of positive developments that need to be channelled effectively within the industry and we are very bullish about its growth.

You have raised money through IPO at a time when the global economy is facing headwinds. How do you view the capital market shaping for the logistics sector?

We recognise that bottlenecks are an inherent part of the logistics business, but at Glottis, we view them as opportunities for growth. Over the years, we have developed as a predominantly import-driven company, with nearly 80 per cent of our volume originating from Asian markets.

While other forwarders may diversify differently, our strategy has focused on strengthening our presence in Asia, particularly in the renewable energy sector, which now contributes around 40 per cent of our revenue since our inception in 2017, with the remaining 60 per cent coming from other product lines.

As a freight forwarding and transport services company, we provide end-to-end logistics solutions for exporters and importers, primarily facilitating cargo movement via sea routes. Alongside freight forwarding, we operate as a transport operator with a fleet of 20 and 40-foot trailers, and are a licensed customs broker headquartered in Chennai, with scope for further expansion.

With over 21 years of experience and eight branches across India, Glottis has steadily grown its operations. As of March 2025, we handled approximately 1.12 lakh TEUS annually, generating a revenue of Rs 941 crore.
