Ashok Leyland to invest ₹5000cr in developing battery ecosystem

It will not only provide for its & Switch's own electric vehicle portfolio, but will also cater to noncaptive demand.

Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group and the country's leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, plans to invest Rs 5,000 crore over the next 10 years to develop and manufacture next-generation batteries for both automotive and non-automotive applications, including energy storage systems.

This reinforces Ashok Leyland's ambition to be a leading player in creating an electrification ecosystem in the country, in alignment with the government's vision of creating a sustainable and green economy, the company said in a statement.
