Founded in Pennsylvania, USA, the company has focused on enabling higher productivity through innovative tooling and wear resistant solutions. WIDIA, a well-known brand within the Kennametal portfolio, adds to this legacy as it marks 100 years of carbide technology.

India has played a significant role in this evolution. The journey began in 1964 with the establishment of WIDIA India in Bengaluru, one of the country's earliest advanced tooling operations. A defining milestone followed in 2002 with the acquisition of WIDIA by Kennametal, which brought together WIDIA's rich technological legacy and Kennametal's global leadership and scale.

Today, Kennametal India operates from a modern integrated campus with more than 750 professionals, serving aerospace and defense, earthworks, energy, transportation, and general engineering. Its business runs on two strong pillars: Hard Metal — delivering Kennametal® and WIDIA™ metal cutting and Kennametal® wear solutions — and the Machining Solutions Group, which brings advanced machining solutions to customers under the WIDMA® brand.
