Regional winners of 2022 AYuTe Africa Challenge

ThriveAgric, a Nigerian agri-tech company, has emerged as the West African winner of the annual Agriculture Youth Technology (AYuTe) Africa Challenge, receiving a US$1million (about R17,5 million) grant as reward.

According to a statement by the company, the challenge had been set up by Heifer International to support young entrepreneurs who were striving to improve food security on the continent by developing affordable technological solutions for smallholder farmers.
Heifer International is a nonprofit organisation working to ensure sustainable development and eliminate hunger.
ThriveAgric was also the overall winner and Visa Direct winner of the global Visa Everywhere Initiative 2022 in December last year. This intense competition saw more than 4 000 start-up founders showcase their innovations.
