Macadamia prices continue to rebound

Macadamia prices for the 2025 season have shown double-digit increases, but the industry was far from the recovery needed for long-term stability, according to industry role players.

South Africa’s macadamia harvesting season commenced in March amid much optimism regarding improved pricing. Greater demand for kernels had led to price increases of around 45%, depending on the sound kernel recovery (SKR) percentage and crackout style.
While the nut-in-shell (NIS) market had proven more lucrative over the past two years, demand had waned as prices rose from the historic lows seen between 2021 and 2023. The 2025 increase was therefore a result of kernel price increases, with the NIS price expected to remain flat.
