KWV shines at Veritas Awards with top accolades

KWV made history at the 35th Veritas Awards when it clinched the prestigious Duimpie Bayly Vertex Trophy – the award for the best wine in the show, excluding Museum Class Wine – for the second year in a row and third time overall.
Its winning wine for both years was a Cape Blend, KWV The Mentors Perold, with the 2020 vintage taking the trophy in 2024 and the 2022 vintage repeating the feat in 2025.
KWV previously won the trophy in 2020 with its The Mentors Orchestra 2018 (Bordeaux Blend), making it the only winery to have won the trophy three times since the category was introduced in 2017. It was also the fourth time that a red blend claimed the show’s top honours.
KWV also earned the title of Best Wine Producer, collecting a record eight Double Gold and 13 Gold medals. In the brandy category, KWV took the most awards, with two Double Golds for its 12-Year-Old Potstill Brandy and 15-Year-Old Alambic Blend, as well as six Golds.
