RS 645 CR FUNDING TO KICKSTART 10 WATERWAYS

India is investing over Rs 1,000 crore in ten projects aimed at boosting transportation efficiency

Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, has sanctioned an investment of over Rs 645 crore for the development of 10 waterways projects in Assam, under the Sagarmala programme of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways. The projects, aimed to enhance riverine infrastructure and terminals along the Brahmaputra river, will be fully funded by the Central government. The initiative seeks to boost connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.
