|Business Traveller India
For over fifty years, Katara Hospitality has played a pivotal role in shaping and redefining the hospitality sector both locally and globally. Its commitment to excellence, innovation, and the preservation of cultural heritage has been instrumental in setting new industry benchmarks. Through its meticulously curated portfolio of iconic hotel properties in Qatar, the company continues to set new global standards for design, service, and authentic hospitality experiences.

Katara Hospitality’s journey began in 1970 under the name “Qatar National Hotels” as a pioneer in the Qatari hospitality sector with the opening of Gulf Hotel, the country's first 5-star hotel and the first property to carry an international brand in Qatar. The company's strategic importance was solidified by an Amiri decree in 1993. In 2012, Qatar National Hotels rebranded to "Katara Hospitality,” a name deeply rooted in ancient Qatari heritage, symbolizing its respect for national culture and its globally recognized expansion of hospitality.
Katara Hospitality focuses on consistently delivering beyond expectations, leveraging its expertise to maximize the value and performance of its assets. This vision is supported by core values that emphasize progress, expertise, precision, and exceptional service, positioning the company as a key asset manager in the luxury hospitality field.
Katara Hospitality's domestic portfolio diversifies Qatar's luxury hotel landscape, featuring a collection of properties ranging from historic landmarks to modern architectural marvels, each offering distinctive experiences. Key domestic properties include:
Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel: The "Pyramid of the Gulf” icon and cornerstone of Doha's hospitality scene, it is deeply cherished by the local community.
The Ritz-Carlton, Doha: A symbol of opulent elegance and authentic Arabian hospitality, located on an exclusive island.
Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel: A luxury resort on Doha Bay, designed to resemble a sheikh’s palace, blending traditional Qatari aesthetics with modern amenities.
Al Messila, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Doha: An urban oasis dedicated to bespoke luxury wellness and well-being, providing a tranquil escape within the city.
