Digital transformation is at the heart of the country’s second-largest cement company, much to the satisfaction of its customers
-

In an era where efficiency and sustainability are paramount, the Adani Group is revolutionising the cement industry through innovative logistics strategies. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure investments, the second-largest cement player in the country is setting new standards in logistical management by achieving a direct road dispatch rate of 72%, achieving significant cost reductions and enhancing environmental sustainability.
Reduction in cost and carbon footprint
Through the implementation of Multi-Modal Logistics Parks, the “Go Direct” programme, and an agile, automated logistics infrastructure, the company has effectively reduced costs and its carbon footprint. By adopting compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric transportation and expanding its coastal and rail footprints with new Bulk Cement Terminals (BCTs) and specialised rakes, the infrastructure major has significantly minimised lead distances and emissions. Additionally, real-time demand and supply optimisation, along with strategic investments, are aligned with the government's “Viksit Bharat” vision, furthering the company's commitment to efficiency and sustainability. It has implemented a three-pronged approach to reduce freight and forwarding costs, successfully reducing logistics costs by Rs. 38 per metric tonne (PMT) to Rs. 1,352 PMT during financial year (FY) 2024. This has been improved further by an additional reduction of Rs. 61 to Rs. 1,291 PMT during first half of (H1) of FY’25. This optimisation supports the company’s overall cost reduction target of Rs. 530 PMT by FY28.
