The largest ever fleet of Dunkirk Little Ships are sailing from Ramsgate to Dunkirk over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 21-26 May, to mark the 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo, when military, service vessels and many privately owned vessels – the Little Ships – set out to rescue Allied forces surrounded by German troops.

Largest ever Little Ships fleet to mark 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo

The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships (ADLS) are sailing as a fleet with 74 Dunkirk Little Ships taking part, including Llanthony, a 77ft 1934 Camper & Nicholsons motor yacht, while the stationary Medway Queen is planning to visit Ramsgate for its Dunkirk commemorations.

Operation Dynamo marked a significant moment in the course of World War Two, as the Allies narrowly averted disaster after much of their forces were surrounded by German troops and pushed towards the beaches.
