WHEN it comes to motorcycle racing, most enthusiasts think MotoGP, and rightly so. Ever since the inception of the series in 1949, MotoGP has been the pinnacle of motorcycle racing and being a prototype class, it has also served as a platform for engineering and innovation. You can see a clear example in motorcycle aero so the next time you are admiring winglets on your beloved motorcycle, do not forget to thank MotoGP.

In more than seven decades that the sport has been around, it has produced icons in both men and machines. The Desmosedici, the RC213V, the M1, the RC16, and the RSGP; and this is just the current lineup. The sport has seen many more iconic racing machines in both the 2-stroke era and the 4-stroke era.

Likewise, there have been iconic motorcycle racers that the sport has given rise to. Agostini, Reed, Sheene, Roberts, Lawson, Rainey, Doohan, Rossi, Stoner, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, and now; Marquez, Quartararo, and Bagnaia; are just a few names that have cemented their legacies.
