I'M A MOTORHOMER DON'T GET ME OUT OF HERE!

The weather had turned slightly warmer, with the promise of summer on the way, so we decided on a long weekend break to explore a small area of North Wales.

We booked a pitch at Bron-y-Wendon Holiday Park in Llanddulas, near Abergele, for four nights.

It is a four-hour drive for us from the Yorkshire coast, but it was well worth the effort.

Abergele, the nearest town to the campsite, has a supermarket and several small shops.

Stocked up on groceries and essentials, we drove the couple of miles to the caravan park at Llanddulas. We were soon settled in and set up, and the following morning, we decided to spend our first day having a look around the local area before venturing further afield.

imageCoastal Llanddulas

The pretty village of Llanddulas is on the North Wales coast, near Abergele. It was originally a fishing and farming village, but during the 19th century, limestone quarrying became the prevalent industry there. This proved very successful and in 1822, a wooden pier was built to allow cargoes of crushed stone to be loaded onto vessels in the bay for export.

Millions of tons of limestone have been quarried from this area over the years, and it continues today, albeit on a smaller scale.

These days, the pier and the large ships are long gone, and the bay is peaceful, with stretches of shingle beach. The North Wales Coastal Route runs along the coast, and there is a cycle/footpath all the way from Colwyn Bay to Llanddulas.

There is free parking by the beach, with no height barriers, although overnight stays are not permitted. It is a beautiful, peaceful walk along the seafront, where we found a pleasant little café based in one of the many static caravan parks that are situated on the coast.

After a good lunch, we hopped on the bus to explore a bit further.
