FRANCE'S FABULOUS HERITAGE
August 2026
|Practical Motorhome
Offering an immersive patchwork of cultural traditions and historic architecture, experience the best of Europe in your motorhome – all within France's borders!
-
The most visited country in Europe, France welcomes 100 million international travellers a year, making it the world's top tourist destination - especially for motorhomers. Which is no wonder, considering its grand architecture, romantic cities, significant art collections and cultural history.
It's famed, of course, for the iconic Eiffel Tower, which draws the crowds, as does the warmth of the Mediterranean coastline in the south. These highlights are certainly worth visiting, but take the time to explore the France outside of the guidebook highlights and you'll be treated to a rich blend of Roman remains, Gothic cathedrals, medieval castles and eclectic cities and be able to stay at some brilliant campsites and aires, too.
Each of the 13 regions that make up metropolitan France has its own unique landscape, and as you travel through the country, you can experience the whole of European culture without crossing another border. There are more than 50 properties on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which together tell a story of France's history. From the iconic half-timbered houses of Normandy to the 100 AD Roman arena of Nîmes, take your time to explore and discover the gems scattered across this wonderful country.
Perfect ParisNo trip to France would be complete without taking in the boulevards of Paris (stay at Camping Paris Est, campingchampigny.paris/en/). La Ville Lumière (City of Light) - a nickname originating from the 19th century, when Paris became the first city in Europe to adopt extensive street lighting - is a true centre for art and culture.
