When the time came to return the keys to the Kia Sonet, our longstanding production support vehicle, there was a bittersweet pause.

That car had seen it all: shoots, long tracking days, rainy-day hustle, and everything in between. It was compact yet rugged, nimble yet refined. Naturally, there were big shoes to fill. But now, standing in our garage is the new long-termer: the Kia Syros, and it’s already beginning to carve its own identity.

imageWith just under 5,000 km on the clock when it arrived, the Syros (came to us as a fresh canvas. I've clocked about 1000 km in the past couple of weeks, and there's already quite a bit to talk about. For starters, this is an entirely different breed of machine: not sporty, not aggressive but composed, calm, and built with comfort at its core. It doesn’t want to race. It wants to glide.

Comfort First. Design wise.

The first thing you'll notice about the Syros is how it rides. Compared to the Sonet, the suspension is noticeably softer. And while that may take away some edge when you push it through corners, it pays off massively in comfort. Whether you're driving solo with gear in the back or you've got a full crew on board, the Syros irons out broken patches with ease. It feels settled, even on uneven highway tarmac.
