REVIVED DB5 DRIVES MEDIA STORM

A freshly restored 1965 Aston Martin DB5 that had languished on a North Wales driveway for decades became a media sensation when it was revealed at the start of the month.

The car, amazingly not stolen given its value and how exposed it had been, had become a local landmark in Mold, Flintshire, where kids had been known to play on it. So when the result of a 2500-hour, £400,000 restoration was unveiled, and the back story behind it unfolded, it went viral globally and featured extensively on television, including the BBC news.

The history was a big part of the appeal of the story because, in spite of the cost of the restoration and the value of the car (both new and now), the owner for the past 50 years has been welder (and later garage owner) John Williams.
