₹1 lakh for a bit of styling... is it worth it?

SPORTBACKS ALRIGHT!

Audi India has been on a bit of a launch spree, especially on the more affordable side of its portfolio. Just a year after the launch of the new Q3, comes the sportier-looking variant, the Q3 Sportback. As its name implies, it’s got that swoopy roofline that everybody likes, but did it really work on so small a frame? In addition, the 2023 Audi Q3 Sportback costs 51.3 lakh, exshowroom, which means you'll need 1 lakh more than the standard Q3 in top-spec Technology trim) to afford one. Well then, is it worth that?

Just a glance at the Q3 Sportback may not indicate that this is that different from the standard car, especially from the front. A closer look will tell you it’s definitely more athletic Audi offers it in the S Line trim, which means it gets sportier front and rear bumpers. The 18-inch alloys are also new, but I think a slightly sportier alternative would have matched this SUV better. The icing on the cake is, of course, the Turbo Blue paint finish it really suits the Q3 Sportback’s athletic intentions.

HISTORY CHANNEL

When I'm around old motorcycles, I often find myself wondering what it must've been like to be born in an earlier time. Wondering, mind you, not wishing. I wonder what it was like when mankind invented the motorcycle. I wouldn't want to get anywhere near the first motorcycle, the Daimler Reitwagen (the word means 'riding car', stupidly enough), made by German inventors Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in 1885. To quote Melissa Holbrook Pierson, 'The first motorcycle looks like an instrument of torture.' And something that might cause an explosion uncomfortably close to one's nether regions. Right after it's shaken loose every healed bone in one's body.
