Draft policy paper for 'Uber of buses'

The Delhi government of NCT, Delhi released a draft policy paper on privatising intra-city bus transportation.

As per the paper, private companies are to run air-conditioned electric and CNG buses in the National Capital Region (NCR). The draft paper by Delhi government comes after several technology companies have shown interest in starting bus services. The initiative is targeted to bring about a shift in the public. transport sector with promotions of efficient premium bus services. Only electric and CNG buses can ply under the scheme initially. after January 01, 2024. The bus routes and fare can be decided by the companies, who should have a fleet of at least 50 buses.
